- In READY TO RUMBLE, Gordie and Sean
(David Arquette and Scott Caan), two best friends
in Wyoming, go to see their favorite WCW wrestler
at the local arena, but are shocked to discover
that this is the night the evil promoter has
picked for him to lose his belt. Determined to
restore Jimmy 'The King' King (Oliver Platt) to
his rightful place on top, the pair travels to
Atlanta to help him do just that. (PG13) Premieres
on May 6, 9, 22, 26, and 31.
- THE WHOLE NINE YARDS is a mob comedy in
which ex-mobster Jimmy "The Tulip"
Tudeski (Willis), who's now living in Canada as
part of the Witness Protection Program, becomes a
target yet again, much to his dismay. All of this
is because of the couple next door--more
specifically, his neighbor's greedy wife, Sophie (Arquette).
When Sophie learns of Jimmy's true identity, she
sends her befuddled husband Nicholas (Perry) to
Chicago to track down the mob and inform them of
Jimmy's whereabouts, expecting a fruitful reward
in return. (R) Premieres on May 27, 30.
- GOSSIP is an intriguing drama that uses
for its premise the potentially damaging concept
of spreading rumors. On a college campus, three
friends decide to do a group assignment on the
effects of GOSSIP. They choose an
unsuspecting couple, who are notorious for being
sexually abstinent. Subtly, word leaks out that
the boyfriend raped his girlfriend one drunken
night after she had passed out. (R) Premieres on
May 20, 23, and 29.

James Toback confronts the topic of race head
on-most specifically, the influence of black urban
hip-hop culture on white America. Set in New York
City as the 1990s wind to a close, the film is
told in a broad, episodic fashion, interweaving
several different story lines in order to address
a multitude of ideas. Starring Robert Downey Jr.,
Brooke Shields and Ben Stiller. (R) Airs on May
31.
